want to know what's weird?
by ninja inwe all know there is no mention of cats in the bible...not one....but another thing that's weird is that there is no reference to any people in the old testament taking their kids down to the beach to make sandcastles and stuff...why?

What is your biggest problem with the JW religion?
by jambon1 inif i had to be tied down i would say disfellowshipping.
totally unnecessary and i really think it spans itself into a lot of other wt policies/mindsets.
"disagree with us and you are a dead man"

Muffineggs. Damn those things were constipating after a road trip.
Oh yeah, Jehovah's celestial chariot left those in the dust a long time ago and I'm showing my age.
Ok then, the control thing. Stifling of all creativity, independent thought, debate, non-dub dreams and aspirations.

...VineYards and Zombies..
by OUTLAW ini had to go down to civilization on business..it was a beautiful morning for a trip..the sun was warm on the desert mountain roads, wildlife was everywhere.....as i came out of the mountains and into the valleys rolling hills, herds of horse`s and cattle were grazing in the fields.there were plenty of young horse`s and cows`s half the size of thier parents playing or sleeping..... farther down the highway,i could see the wineries and vineyards..this was a picture post card perfect day.....as you get closer to the city, small towns start to pop up..not much going on in them during the day, much less this early in the morning....as i get into the first town what do i see?..jw`s on the street corner`s with awakes and watchtowers..???..lol!
!..who do they think is going to see them?..the odd traveller passing through at 60kmh?..the cow in the field across the street?..i was friggin amazed, what a waste of time..i had to laugh....40 minutes later another small town..and..more jw`s on the street corner, this town was smaller than the last!..jw`s on every corner, all 4 of them..lol!
!..like the last town these were old jw`s,probably lived there all thier lives....there was a happy but glazed look on thier faces.they looked like young children trapped in old peoples bodys, playing a game they had played for decades.not really knowing why they do it anymore, but its something to do.....they no longer believe what they used to,back when i went to a kingdom hall..and..i doubt they really care.....dead to the life around them, waiting for a new system that will never arrive..but..they have something to do everymorning.stand on a street corner with the watchtower and awake in the middle of nowhere..and..watch cars go by...outlaw

where have i been?
by thebiggestlie inhello to all you folks in x-dub land......you may (or may not) have been wondering where i went to seeing that i simply dissapeared for a while..... i guess ive just been playin it safe by staying away from the "apostates"...i really am just trying to balance my family, my friends, my job, school and everything else into one easy to swallow package which i must say is almost impossible.. my mental state has been horrendous in the past few montths trying to figure out exactly what i believe and what i actually am going to do in this little thing called "life".
i suppose feeling insecure and stressed is pretty standard for a 17 year old like me.
adulthood is just around the corner and honestly im nott sure im ready to face it right now.

Hello TBL,
You said:
i wish i could grab ahold of something more absolute and rock solid and really feel like im standing on some sort of solid ground but instead i feel like im sinking into some sort of dark oblivion
We've all felt that way at some point. Being raised in the cookie-cutter, black and white world of the JWs only makes it harder. We were never taught to look at some of the hard questions head on. Like what happens at death. As believing dubs, not only do we have a wonderful fantasyland paradise ahead of us, but, if we're lucky we won't even have to die at all! Talk about denial.
Instead of looking at it as "oblivion" try looking forward to a life-time of questioning, learning, growth and discovery. With time the lack of certainty gets easier to bear and even enjoyable. Take a deep breath and keep posting when it's helpful for you.
BTW, are you comfortable in navigating this site? It's not the most user friendly, but there is a wealth of helpful information here if you know how to dig.

Email from mum: new niece, and one more young sister breaks free...
by sass_my_frass inlast week my brother's wife (he's a young elder) had their second baby, a little girl.
he was good enough to let me know by phone text message, which will be the last thing i ever hear from him unless they keep breeding.
yesterday i got an email from mum, which had on it this email exchange... apologise for what might feel like an intrusion into their privacy, but, you know..... ________________________________________________________________.

Hey there Sass,
Good onya for taking the high road by not even acknowledging their warped worldview. The more you respond like a normal human being, perhaps the more they'll see that there is life after the Borg.

Thanks for sharing you story, 38. I think it's helpful to see how you weren't a person with a chip on your shoulder. You were just trying to live a good life and the Borg finally wore you down. I look forward to hearing more from you.

The Eagle Has landed!!!!
by AK - Jeff ini drove the ball well on #2, but my drive came up a few yards short of my intention, leaving me 165 yards to the pin.
my lie was a bit downhill, and in the first cut of rough, so i selected one club longer than the distance from a tight-lie.
my 5 iron in hand, i struck the ball.

Congratulations Jeff!!
Now the bad news. Golf is a cult. It will suck you in and never let you go.
Oh well, at least the ugly clothes are comfortable. (Unlike dubbie-wear)

That is a priceless quote. Thanks lenny.

Trolling Apologist vs. Informed Apostate - WHO IS MORE LIKELY TO CHANGE?
by BizzyBee inin the battle between apologists and apostates, who do you think more often comes around to the other point of view and why?.
imho, apologists (or trolls) are just potential apostates who need a little more time in the oven.
(in other words, they are not fully baked, only "half-baked.

Are JW's generally better than average people?
by JH ini for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

DOH!!!
What a Homer Simpson moment this is! I posted the above reply to the wrong thread (which I swore I wasn't going to post on anymore).
Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa.
Oh well, just adding to Rosalee's "longest thread" record.
